New Mexico is among the seven states reporting weight-loss drug coverage without GLP-1 coverage. As everywhere, coverage for diabetes, cardiovascular disease and sleep apnea indications is a separate and mandatory matter. Why New Mexico is different
New Mexico appears on KFF's list of states covering at least one weight-loss drug while covering no GLP-1. It is a Western state, where regional prevalence runs at 30.2%, and one with a high Medicaid enrolment share relative to population — so the exclusion reaches a comparatively large proportion of adults in the state.
